Jonathans Place

My class started on a new project for Jonathans Place in which theyre making donations to them. We all made posters to put on the boxes and wrote what went in each box so it would all be more organized and people would know were everything went. We also had someone outside the cafeteria with a poster letting people know about the donations and were they would be.After making the boxes and posters look nice we put the boxes in the library or different classrooms were students could easily donate. It was very successful because we actually got many people donating clothes and all ,which is very helpful.I really liked this project because we worked together to donate and help out others.

Hearts For The Staff

"Hearts for the staff" was something we did together as a class, for all the staff. Since Valentines day was coming up we decided to make valentine hearts for them as a way of appreciating all they do for us. We all did different things either, cards or hearts with candy for them.
I really liked doing this for them because they do so much for us, they deserve to get something for valentines from us.Also it wasn't a lot of work because we all cooperated and helped out to make it easy, and I like the feeling when you give it to them and they seem surprised and happy all at the same time.

College Clique

"College Clique" was a project we did that encourages other students to get interested, and start looking for colleges they might be interested in going to.
All of my class helped by each doing a different college template, we added information and interesting fact about it. We also added pictures of the campus and color to the background so it can get students attention and make them want to read it.
Mine was the University of Texas at Arlington , I talked about some advantages and facts about this university that would get peoples attention. I did the background with the university colors and made sure to include many of the great things this university has to make sure people get interested in it.I really liked doing this as a class because it wasn't a lot of work and as we do it we learn about different universities, and encourage others about college.

National Counseling week

For National Counseling Week each class came up with something different to give the counselor staff. My class came up with doing little boxes full of candy, we all did three boxes each so we would have enough. We then got in groups depending on who your counselor was and as we gave it to them we let them know how much we appreciate them. I really liked working on this together as a class for the counseling staff because they do so much to help us , I  feel like this was a big Thank You from all of us !

Brookdale Trip

I had the chance to go to the  Brookdale nursing home with my leadership class and it was a great experience. I liked spending time with them and teaching them how to play "Loteria" , they seemed to really be having fun. We had gifts for the first three winners and valentine cards for them. I really liked seeing them happy !

Hero Week

Hero week is like an anti-bullying week where our class has to come up with ideas for it. Each group in my class had to come up with different ideas , my group came up with the idea of making small cards for people. On the outside of the cards we wrote " Open me when you're sad" and on the inside we wrote nice quotes to make whoever opened it feel better. Even though we didnt know all the people that would get them the fact that they might be going through something and knowing our cards could make them feel better, makes us feel good.

Youth Summit

Youth Summit is a place where all the ESL classes of the district get together. This time we had the opportunity to listen to the speaker Consuelo Kickbusch talk to us about her life experiences. She made us realize how much we need to value our parents for everything they've done for us, and also motivated us to keep doing good. I really liked Youth Summit and I would really encourage others to go next time.
